The tubes trap thermal energy from the sun and use it to heat water for household use. As water is pumped through the copper tubing that traverses the system, it’s heated 9° to 18°F (5° to 10°C) with every pass. Thus water is heated throughout the day for household use. This hot water can also be used for space heating as a supplement to a traditional boiler or radiant heat system.
